The
incessant rainfall for more than 48 hours has reminded us of the incredible
rainfall that our country experienced this midsummer. The nation was in the
brim of forgetting all the unbearable experiences gained by the Bhutanese. But
this late continuous and heavy shower, swollen river bed has taken us back to
the summer monsoon that we have experienced this year. The bountiful of
properties were lost, many infrastructures were damaged and our pristine
natural vegetation loss it virginity. Many places were disconnected with other
parts of the Bhutan with rest due to the road cut off at many places. Sarpang
town has lost its natural and man-made form due to the hungry swollen Sarpang
river. Thimphu, the capital city was disconnected at Taktikoti from the
southern region and at Zhemgang from the eastern Bhutan. Due to this, the
transportation of fuel from the India has been kept in held. It has instigated
fuel price hike in the capital. Such devastating damage has been caused by this
summer which leads to the great loss to the country’s economy. It has also
inflicted the phobia of monsoon in every Bhutanese soul. This year’s summer has
disturbed the harmony and serenity of our community.
As
per the Bhutanese legendary believe, the summer does end with thruebab celebration. This year it has
extended to the mid of October which is almost a month after blessed rainy day
celebration. This vividly shows that natural calamities have been altered due
to the never-ending human activities against nature. The autumn shower comes to
many as surprise pouring when everybody is preparing for winter chillness. In
the western Bhutan, the farmers were preparing for autumn harvest of rice. This
shower has drenched to the futile harvest. It re-wounded the unbearable scar
marked on the natural vegetation, national properties and life of the human
being by the midsummer devastating monsoon fall. This year summer rainfall was
once again the nightmare for the individual Bhutanese. All the river bed has
regained its monstrous height, streams and springs have rejuvenated the summer
deeps and the all trees have once again tested its rigidity and strength with
the late strong windy plight. Once again all the school going students are
drenched with the unbearable heavy rainfall. It is the unexpected pouring.
Such
natural devastating call comes to human with great surprise. But it happens to
avenge the human’s cruelty to nature and its natural existence. Air pollution,
natural landscape alteration, water defecation because of man’s undying lust
and desire was the main cause of unseasonable weather changes. The humankind
needed to be prepared to combat the natural avenges.
The
summer heavy rainfall and unexpected heavy autumn shower reminded us in many
ways to be prepared and expect the unexpected natural calls. This has many in
its own bag to let us stitch on time and save nine to move extra mile to get
acquainted with successive summer to arrive in the future.
